Bunk Bed and Loft Combo

Found this little jem on Relaxshacks.com.   I've incorporated this idea into my own personal design for my future tiny home.  I think it's a perfect way to deal with sleeping arrangements for a young family.  My adjustments would be to have the top loft full width of the home and to make the bunk beds removeable if they are not already.  So--even though the whole raw paint thing gives me the heebie jeebies--the design is brilliant.

The Periscope

I normally show houses a little larger than this, but this guy Derek Dedrickson's blog is something to study.
He's creative and a great problem solver/life hacker.

Tiny Matchbox Apartment

Brilliant use of space!  I want to do the sliding bench, table, bathtub combo and will remember this when building a tiny home.

Flip Up Porch

Personally, the exterior leaves much to be desired visually.  But take a look inside and you will find everything you need.  Plus a cool flip up porch!

Found on Tiny House Talk

(There are a ton of interior pictures on this one so I highly recommend checking out the link.)

Mortgage-free in 320 square feet

This is my dream only with 4 people.  Just look how nice--easy to clean and even have company.  Plus the lot rent of $150 and utilities and food is all they have to pay.  It's not off grid but it's close enough!

This little beauty can be seen in more detail on Tiny House Talk.
(When the porches are up the cabin just looks like a large shed.  Smart.)

Innovations in Solar Energy

The Window Socket  by designers Kyuho Song and Boa Oh.

As seen from Yanko Design article.  This highly portable solar power device could change the game of clean energy!  It takes 5-8 hours to complete charging but that charge lasts 10 hours.  The article says that it produces 1000 mAh--unfortunately I don't know enough about electricity to explain what this means.  Could anyone explain in comments for clarity?

(Thanks  Dragonfly for the heads up!)

Manual Washing Machine

This pedal powered manual washer, the GiraDora, was created to help third world peoples overcome the drudgery and sanitary concerns of manual washing.   At only $40 per device, it is not only cheep, but also sturdy.   Unfortunately, it is not in production yet as this modern marvel is still in consumer testing phases.  Here is an article on Digital Trends accompanied with a video about this innovative take on the manual washer.

aatinyhouse

No--it's not a typo--it's the name of a blog.  Amy has a lovely tiny home with a loft section that seems far more reasonable than the typical a-frame roof that I see constantly on tiny houses.  No getting up from a good night sleep only to brain yourself on a low ceiling.  Plus, it has a sky light as well as vent window.  Extra air flow in a confined space is always a plus.  She built it herself for the amazingly low price of $8500.

(okay from this picture you can't tell but it's elevated then a-framed--check out her blog you'll see)

Mechanical Small Space Solution

Transforming Bed is a design by Benn Colker and Daniel Strongwater that creates space where there once was none.  An outstanding option for the space challenged, it allows the bed to be pulled up to the ceiling using a counterweight pulley system that is completely off grid.

*UPDATE* Fire Starting W/O Lighter

This is a real experience from a novice on how to start a fire with a magnesium fire starting kit.

Posted on YouTube by DEMCAD.

*UPDATE*  This magnesium starter kit really works as easy as that.  I went to a gathering that needed a fire lit.  Scraped off magnesium filings.  Sparked the steal.  Bam!  Fire!
